National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has revealed that his bodyguard Eddie Sebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe and backup singer Ali Bukenya aka Nubian Li, who are currently in military detention, refused millions of shillings from the ruling regime, reason why they are being punished.
Eddie Mutwe and Nubian Li are among scores of Bobi Wine supporters who were arrested on December 27th, 2020 while in Kalangala District, where they were had gone to be part of Bobi Wine’s campaign trail.

However, despite the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court releasing them on bail on Tuesday, they are still in detention and the latest information is that they were driven from Masaka to Makindye Barracks on Thursday, where they are being detained, awaiting production in the General Court Martial, although the charges against them haven’t been pronounced by the army yet.
However, Bobi Wine contends that Eddie Mutwe and Nubian Li are being punished for refusing to take money from the government such that they could abandon Bobi Wine’s NUP and cross over to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Bobi Wine revealed this in a statement he release on Facebook, in which he said thus;
“Gen. Museveni thinks he can break me by tormenting some of the comrades closest to me! Despite court ordering for the release of Nubian Li and other team members, they were instead taken to Makindye military prison in total disregard of the court order! They have to-date been denied access to lawyers, doctors and family members.
Museveni has previously tried very hard to compromise them. People like Nubian Li and Eddie Mutwe have been offered crazy sums of money, but they have laughed at the dictator and stuck to the cause.
Now, this is the punishment they are receiving! Museveni being the poor student of history he forgets that the dictators who came before him did all this, but it never saved them! Hold fort comrades.”

However, by press time, neither the police nor the army had issued an official statement about the whereabouts or fate of either Eddie Mutwe, Nubian Li or the other Bobi Wine supporters who are currently in detention.
