National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters who might still be celebrating after Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Frank Tumwebaze was declared unopposed Member of Parliament by Kamwenge District returning officer George Mayezi might want to pause and think twice, after his rival George Atuhaire decided to drag him to court.
This comes after Atuhaire shared on social media a video message informing the public about his decision challenge the returning officer’s decision in court.
In the short video, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) flag bearer talks about how he wants injunction stopping Tumwebaze from being declared the MP for Kibale East 2O20-2026.
Talking to ExposedUganda.com, one of Atuhaire’s campaign managers said that his candidate notified the court yesterday and file the case on Monday.
“Hon. Tumwebaze has tried all sorts of tricks to frustrate Atuhaire and this is not the first time he is playing such games but this time round we are determined to seriously fight back with our all. The people of Kibale East now know that our candidate’s signature was forged; even Tumwebaze himself knows that.”
The source added that; “The Minister is doing all this because he knows that in a fair election Atuhaire would teach him the lesson Kahonda taught Otafire in 2016.”
When ExposedUganda.com contacted Atuhaire, he said that he was in Kibale District to meet with his agents as he waits for his lawyers to challenge the decision of Kamwenge returning office in court.
