Musicians Joseph Mayanja alia Jose Chameleone and Daniel Kazibwe and Ragga Dee’s goal of becoming the Lord Mayor of Kampala for the next five years might have ended when they lost to Forum For Democratic Change candidate Elias Lukwago, in the recently concluded elections; but that has not deterred another popular artiste from aiming for the same office.
Alex Bagonza aka A Pass, 31, who is known for hits like ‘Give me the kiss’ and ‘Tune up the vibe’, took twitter on Thursday and announced to his over three hundred thousand followers that he might run for Kampala Mayor in 2026.
The talented artiste, who has become known for being a passionate political activist on social media in the last few years, has managed to cultivate a huge following on many social media platforms, something that that might help to mobilize for votes for him in future.
It has become common for artistes with political ambitions to use their online fame and activism to endear themselves to prospective voters on the internet.
A Pass is currently one of the most recognisable faces in the music industry and remains an influential figure among young people especially in urban areas.
Like the newly elected Mawokota North Member of Parliament Hillary Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman, A Pass is also known to have a good relationship with National Unity Platform boss Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, something that is likely to increase his chances of being the next Kampala mayor.
