A squad of anti-riot police was deployed at Christian Revival Church in Kawaala and other city suburbs after the Uganda police received intelligence that Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was to attend fallen pastor Augustine Yiga’s burial.
Yiga aka Abizaayo, who passed away this week at Nsambya Hospital after being hospitalised for days, is set to be buried inside his church, as per his will and the burial will be held today at 4:00Pm.
We have however learnt that several prominent people who include politicians, celebrities, clergymen and women among others are expected to attend Yiga’s burial and among them is Bobi Wine.
It is for that reason that the police have deployed heavily at the ceremony, to ensure that politicians do not politicise Pastor Yiga’s burial and that all mourners adhere to the Ministry of Health Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), so that they don’t expose themselves to risks of contracting COVID-19.
However, by press time the police had allowed Bobi Wine to access the church and speak to the throng of mourners that gathered to give Yiga the final send-off.
We shall bring you updates as they unfold.
