Match Day 17 of the 2020/21 Premier League season had results that caused a major shake-up on the table looks.
This season is so competitive, that one win could see you climb up to five places on the table, and one defeat could see you drop to the relegation zone in no time.
That said, Manchester United, who have enjoyed a great run of form in the previous five matches where they have won four and drawn one, are now second on the Premier League table, level on points with defending champions Liverpool but with a less goal difference. Their hard-fought 2 – 1 victory at Villa Park against Aston Villa was crucial for them to achieve this feat.

Arsenal, whose form has been woeful since they beat rivals Manchester United on November 1, 2020, have won three consecutive matches in the festive season and these results have seen them climb from 16th to now 11th on the table, knocking on the doors of the top half. Their emphatic 4 – nil win against struggling West Bromwich Albion on a snowy Saturday night has been hailed as their best performance this season so far.
On the other side of Manchester, the Cityzens had a blistering first half performance at Stamford Bridge that saw them put three goals past Chelsea in the first half thanks to goals from skipper Kevin De Bryne, Ilkay Gündogan, and Phil Foden. Chelsea pulled one back in added time of the second half through Callum Hudson-Odoi but it was a little bit too late to inspire a comeback.
Here are the full results:
Newcastle 1 – 2 Leicester
Chelsea 1 – 3 Manchester City
Tottenham Hotspurs 3 – 0 Leeds United
Crystal Palace 2 – 0 Sheffield United
Brighton 3 – 3 Wolverhampton
West Bromwich Albion 0 – 4 Arsenal
Everton 0 – 1 West Ham
Manchester United 2 – 1 Aston Villa
Table-leaders Liverpool are taking the trip to Southampton tonight.
