COVID-19 keeps spreading in Uganda everyday with numbers in excess of 100 confirmed by the Ministry of Health every day.
As the disease spreads, the number of deaths also keeps getting higher, and the disease does not discriminate whose life to take.
We have seen peasants, the rich, and government dignitaries succumb to the deadly virus, and this time it has taken another Member of Parliament (MP).
The latest prominent figure to die of COVID-19 is Kamuli Municipality MP Hajjat Rehema Wetongola, who succumbed to the virus today, Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Mulago National Specialised Hospital, where she was recently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after presenting symptoms like severe headache, fever and dry cough.
The fallen MP joined parliament after defeating Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Salaamu Musumba in a tight by-election in 2017.
As of November 12, 2020, data from the Ministry of Health indicates that the confirmed cumulative COVID-19 cases in Uganda are now 15,402 with 8038 recoveries and now, 145 deaths.
May her soul rest in peace.
