SHOCKING! UPDF chopper crashes in Entebbe, one confirmed dead

Sad news reaching our desk is that a helicopter belonging to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has crashed this afternoon in Entebbe municipality near Lido beach.

According to eyewitnesses, the Police fire brigade from Entebbe International Airport rushed to the scene of the accident and pulled out two occupants who are said to be UPDF officers and rushed them to the nearby Kisubi hospital for medical attention. One pilot identified as Caroline Busingye has been confirmed dead.

The UPDF Spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso hs confirmed the crash, saying that the chopper was off for training flight piloted by two cadet trainees.

“Today afternoon at about 2:15 pm, a jet ranger piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight came down immediately after take-off near Lido beach. The two were rushed to the hospital to ascertain their health. Our aviation team is on the ground to investigate the mishap,” Byekwaso shared on her official Twitter page.

It should be noted that that just over a week go on February 5, 2021, four UPDF officers survived a helicopter crash after the chopper they were flying in crashed in Southern Somalia leaving its occupants severely injured but in a stable condition.
