Could renowned Ugandan boxer Zebra Ssenyange aka Zebra Mando have been killed by radical elements who are opposed to President Yoweri Museveni’s continued stay in power?
That is what some National Resistance Movement (NRM) diehards like Ashburg Kato and others suspect.

Hours after the shocking news of his death spread on social media, NRM mobiliser and former People Power activist Ashburg Kato took to Facebook and claimed that the President had instructed him a few days ago to make sure a group of boxers that included ZEBRA ” Mando” undergo a COVID-19 test at Mulago Hospital in preparation for their meeting with him (President).
As they were waiting for the results, news of Mando’s assassination started filtering in.
According to the police, Mando was killed by gunmen who invaded his home in Bwaise, Kawempe Division, dragged him out of his house before they shot him dead a few meters from his home.

Mando’s death comes less than a week after a suspected assassin tried to take out Lwengo LC5 Chairman Geoffrey Mutabazi, only to be thwarted by his Special Forces Commando (SFC) bodyguards.
Mutabazi, who was part of a group of NRM mobilisers who met the President last month at State House, is one of President Museveni’s trusted mobilisers in greater Masaka sub-region.
