UPDF,  Police Issue Statements On Nansana Shootout

A few hours after a  Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier identified as  L/ CPL Denis Awillo Omara shot and killed four people, injuring three others before he was killed to stop the senseless killings, the army and police have spoken out about the incident.
Following the gruesome incident,
 the UPDF and Uganda Police have released  statements about the shocking incident that has left locals scared, a few days to the general elections on Thursday January 14th.
According to a statement issued by deputy UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki,  the  deceased include two Local Defence unit personnel identified as Abraham Masereka and John Wafula, plus a Special Police Constable identified as Isaac Nimulungi and a civilian, Ritah Nibayingo, resident of Nsumbi village, Kyebando parish in Wakiso district.

Those injured are police constable David Ochen and two yet to be identified civilians who were rushed to nearby clinics for medical attention.
Although it’s not yet clear what might have sparked the incident, the police and army are still investigating the matter.
However, the communication from the UPDF clarifies earlier reports about the incident which indicated that it was a Local Defence Unit personnel who had shot the deceased.
