Zhu Mingzhen Becomes First Ugandan-Chinese Player Summoned To National Team

William Zhu Mingzhen is a Ugandan-Chinese basketball player born in 1996 and raised in Beijing to a mandarin speaking Ugandan Diplomat and Chinese Mother, who is a teacher by profession.

He went through the Beijing No.4 Middle School and later graduated from the Pecking University playing as a Guard under the Chinese University Basketball Association ( CUBA).

The 23-year old Ugandan- Chinese Basketball player became the first duo citizenship player on the Chinese National Basketball Team and now serves as a new bond connecting Uganda and China.

The Guard will assemble together with the provisional squad between 1st and 20th  September for thorough preparations for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in 2021 and as well develop a talent pool for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and the Olympic Games in 2024.
