20 Passengers Dead, Scores Injured In Horrible Link Bus Accident

At least 20 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured after they got involved in a terrible accident that occurred in a few kilometers from Fort Portal city, Kyenjojo District.

According to preliminary information from the traffic police, the deceased, who are yet to be identified, died after a bus belonging to Link Bus company which they were traveling lost control and veered off the road before rolling in a tea plantation.


Eyewitnesses reveal that the accident that occurred at Sebitoli along Fort Portal-Kyenjojo (Fort Portal tea estate) road left 20 people dead, out of who 13 were adults and 7 juveniles.

Commenting about the tragedy, Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said that; “The territorial Police in Kyenjojo responded to a fatal accident which occurred this morning at around 10.30am, involving a link bus Reg. No UBA 003S that was traveling to Kampala from Fort Portal.  It happened 2KMs from Fort Portal city at a place called Sebitoli.

The injured have been rushed to Buhinga hospital for first aid while the dead are at the same hospital for postmortem.”

Nampiima added that; “A detailed traffic investigative report to be shared later.”

We have however since established that out of the 20 who died,  11 are male and 9 are female, although their particulars be availed  by the police in due course.
