20-Year-Old South Sudanese Woman Jumps Off Building, Dies On Spot

The Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a 20-year-old female South Sudanese national jumped to her death after falling off a building on Tuesday in Nansana, a Kampala suburb.

ASP Luke Owoyesigire, said in a statement that the territorial police of Nansana Municipality are investigating a suspected suicide of Nyameisha Kueth, 20 years old, South Sudanese.


“The incident was reported at police today 14th/07/2021 by a security guard of Alera apartments, where the victim is said to have committed suicide,” Owoyesigire said.

He added that; “It has been established that the deceased has been staying with her stepmother. Yesterday, in the morning, she went missing from their home which prompted her brother to report her missing at Nabweru Police Station. But she later returned home in the evening.”Today at 6 am Wednesday, she was seen by the security guard climbing to the 4th floor of the apartment and then jumped to the ground. She died after hitting the ground.”

He also revealed that; “The police visited the scene and all relevant statements have been taken. The body has been conveyed to the Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem.”

He noted that the police shall communicate details of their findings after the investigation, adding that this is the second suicide case in a space of one week, because there was a similar case of a lady in Wakiso who jumped from the 6th floor of the Kawempe Referral Hospital window and died on spot.
