Appreciated: Museveni gifts brand new Pajero to ex Cranes captain Dennis Onyango

Dennis Onyango, who retired from international football last month after an illustrious 16-year career during which he made 82 appearances for the Uganda Cranes, has been appreciated for his service to the country by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The President and the First Lady Janet Museeveni who doubles as the Minister of Education and Sports invited the former Uganda Cranes captain Onyango to State House Entebbe where he was gifted a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero sports car, a big machine on wheels for the big goalkeeper.

While playing for Uganda, Onyango captained the Uganda Cranes to two consecutive African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final tournaments in 2017 and 2019, the former coming after nearly 40 years of waiting. Onyango also flew the Ugandan flag high individually when he won the Confederation of African Football (CAF) African-based African Player of the year in 2016.

Onyango currently plays for South African side Mamelodi Sundowns where he has won a plethora of trophies.
