The European transfer window closed last night at midnight, European time, and one of the long rumoured transfers finally got through.
Arsenal have been in lengthy negotiations with Atletico Madrid to buy their star midfielder Thomas Partey but the Spanish giants told them they would not reduce the price mentioned in his release clause whatsoever.
Arsenal finally agreed to meet Partey’s asking price of €50 million, had him do medicals in Spain, and finally got their man on deadline day a few hours to the closure of the transfer window, sending Arsenal fans into excitement over hopes of the 27-year-old solving their midfield problems. He signed four-year contract at Arsenal.
Here are the other transfers that happened on deadline day:
Lucas Torreira from Arsenal to Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan with option to buy. Buy option clause price would be €21m.
Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles (FC Porto), Facundo Pellistri (Peñarol) and Amad Traoré Diallo (Atalanta) to Manchester United. Traoré will join Manchester United in January 2021. Chris Chris Smalling to Roma on a permanent deal.
Rafinha to PSG on a permanent deal from Barcelona.
Jean Clair Todibo on loan (2 years, €2m) with buy option (€20m) to Benfica from Barcelona.
Gerard Deulofeu left Watford to join Udinese on loan.
Goalkeeper Robin Olsen to Everton on a season-long loan from AS Roma.
Joachim Andersen from Lyon to Fulham.
Xande Silva to Greek side Aris Thessaloniki FC on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season from West Ham.
