Uganda musician Ibrahim Mayanja aka Big Eye has Tuesday afternoon been arrested by the police at the National Theatre in Kampala.
Moles reveal that Big Eye was rounded up by a truck full cops who dragged him out of National Theatre and bundled him onto the vehicle before speeding away.
Although the police are yet to issue an official statement about Big Eye’s arrest, our Moles reveal that he is likely to have been arrested over his latest song ‘Olemwa’, which is controversial and highly political because of the message it carries.
In the said song, Big Eye, who was some time back a staunch National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter, sings about a failed state, where Ugandans can’t even afford a meal.
Big Eye premiered his new controversial song ‘Olemwa’ on YouTube last week and it has since attracted lots of attention from both his fans and some members of the ruling NRM party.
It should be noted that although Big Eye was an NRM subscriber for several years, he parted ways with the ruling party prior to the 2020 general election, after he fell out with some party leaders.
He thereafter started criticizing NRM supporters that he did not agree with and even expressed allegiance to the Bobi Wine led People Power/National Unity Platform (NUP) opposition coalition.
We shall bring you details about Big Eye’s arrest in our subsequent updates.
