According to sources within Bobi Wine’s campaign team, one of the police vehicles trailing his entourage, which was being driven by a yet to be identified police officer, veered off the road and rammed into civilians who were cheering the NUP candidate, killing four on spot and leaving several injured.

Some of the injured were rescued by paramedics manning Red Cross ambulances, who rushed them to nearby health centres for medical attention while the dead were taken to Kawolo Hospital pending identification before being handed over to their relatives for burial.

At the time of the accident Bobi Wine and his supporters were leaving Nakifuma in Buikwe District heading to Lugazi, on their way to Mukono District where he was set to hold another rally.

However, by the time of publishing this story  the Uganda police had not yet issued a statement about this unfortunate incident, although we shall bring you the details as and when they do so, because efforts to contact the spokesperson Fred Enanga for a comment were still futile by press time.
