Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, has done the unthinkable by endorsing Kampala Woman Member of Parliament, Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala, who was rejected by the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), as the National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearer for the Kampala Lord Mayor race in the 2021 election.
Naggayi is set to contest for the same position with the incumbent Lord Mayor Hajji Elias Lukwago, singers turned politicians Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone and Daniel Kazibwe aka Raga Dee, Democratic Party’s Beatrice Kayanja, among others.

Nagayi, who is due for nomination, was endorsed on Monday September 28th, 2020, after she fulfilled all the requirements set by Bobi Wine’s NUP in order to be nominated for the said position.
However, the decision has left Bobi Wine pitted amongst several opposition politicians, because it portrays him as someone who doesn’t wish FDC’s Lukwago to retain the position.
Worse still is that Bobi Wine refused to endorse his longtime colleague and fellow musician Jose Chameleone, but was quick to endorse Naggayi, something that has left very many eyebrows raised.
Besides that, NUP had earlier on endorsed Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebagala, who is Naggayi’s brother-in-law for the same position, although he pulled out on the last minute without giving genuine reasons why he had decided to chicken out of the Kampala mayoral race.
It should however be noted that a few months ago, FDC officials declined to nominate Naggayi as party flagbearer for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat after they rejected her nomination forms for the same position on grounds that she had returned them to the party secretariat in Najjanankumbi a day after the designated date for their return.
Since then Naggayi has been at loggerheads with top FDC officials, who she claim betrayed her despite the longtime political marriage she had with the party and they instead eloped with Lukwago, who is a new entrant or Side-dish in the political marriage she had with FDC.
