Musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is currently in America, where he went to meet thousands of his supporters in the diaspora, in a bid to further what he terms as ‘the struggle’.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, who contested for the January presidential elections against president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, held various meetings with many of his supporters, who pledged to continue supporting the ‘struggle.’
Our Moles intimate that Bobi Wine is set to meet his supporters in several states so as to come up with new strategies of bankrolling the NUP party and hatching ways of taking over power from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the next presidential elections.
Shortly after meeting his supporters in Boston, Bobi Wine tweeted; “Very delighted to meet with our diaspora leadership team in Boston. The diaspora continues to play a very big role in advancing the cause for freedom and democracy in Uganda. Continue doing whatever you are doing. It will be worth it in the end. #StopSponsoringOurOppression”
Bobi Wine also wrote on Facebook thus; “It was an absolute pleasure meeting with our diaspora leadership team in Boston. We appreciated these comrades and their communities for the great work they have done these past years to support the cause in different ways.”
He added that; “We discussed very many things; most importantly, how to make our struggle not only a Ugandan struggle, but an international struggle. We are alive to the fact that those who have succeeded in bringing down brutal dictatorships have had to expand their approach beyond the domestic horizons and look to the world for solidarity. I am very delighted to note that despite the setbacks, these comrades are still committed and devoted to the struggle for a new Uganda. They understand that a struggle like ours is not a sprint, but a marathon.”
Bobi Wine flew to America late last month where he is to spend three weeks interacting with his supporters there and other Ugandans in exile.
Prior to setting off for America, Bobi Wine delegated the NUP leadership to Manjiya county Member of Parliament John Baptist Nambeshe, who will hold the position until the Principal returns to Uganda.
