The police fired teargas and rubber bullets in the air in a bid to disperse supporters of National Unity Platform (NUP) 2021 Presidential contenders Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine and Forum for Democratic Change’s Patrick Amuriat Oboi.
Although Bobi Wine managed to make it to Kyambogo following a tumultuous journey that involved police teargassing journalists and NUP supporters and was later nominated to contest for Presidency, for Amuriat it was an even weirder case because he had to walk barefooted to the nomination grounds after a rough scuffle with the police.

Speaking to journalists, Amuriat, who arrived unexpectedly at Kyambogo University after having refused to be escorted by the police earlier on, said that the police had blocked him from accessing his offices at the FDC party headquarters such that he could pick his nominations forms and other necessary documents.
He said even the ten people who were mandated by the police to second him had been refused access to Kyambogo and many of them like MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda had been arrested.
