National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential contender Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s online TV channel called Ghetto TV, which has been streaming his campaigns live across the country, was allegedly hacked by state agents on Wednesday night.
According to Bobi Wine’s official Facebook page, the increasingly popular Ghetto TV, which streams live on Facebook by giving minute by minute updates about his campaigns and other NUP-related content, was hacked by yet-to-be-identified people, although one of the suspects is blogger Ashburg Katto, who defected from Bobi Wine’s camp to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
This comes after the former People Power activist turned NRM mobilizer threatened to take back “what belongs to Caesar.”
Ashburg Katto, who crossed to NRM after falling out with Bobi Wine, claims to be the founder of Ghetto TV but that Bobi Wine and his group hijacked it from him, although now he contends that he has since repossessed it.
Following the hacking, as a way of keeping followers who yearn for NUP updates about the People Power activities and Bobi Wine campaigns, his handlers have since set up a new page which already has about 28,000 followers.
It should be noted that this is the second time Ashburg Kato is taking a control of the popular Ghetto TV page, which is said to be run by two journalists identified as Jothan Atusingwize of Pearl FM and Ashraf Kasirye, formerly working with New Vision and Uganda Radio Network.
