President Museveni has named Beti Kamya, the new Inspector General of Government.
The announcement was made on Thursday, July 15. The Appointment was followed by a tweet by the President on his official page.
“By the Powers given to me under Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint:
1. Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya
2. Deputy Inspector of Government – Anne Muhairwe,” the President wrote.
Beti Kamya was the Cabinet Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development but dropped in the recent cabinet after she lost an election of the Member of Parliament.
She comes to fill a position that has been vacant for almost a year since Justice Irene Mulyagonja’s second and last term ended in July 2020.
Justice Mulyagonja had been in office since her first appointment in April 2012. By the time of her appointment she was a judge of the High Court where she had served for four years.
