Justice Simon Peter Byabakama’s Electoral Commission has given National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine the green light to contest for presidency in the 2021 general election.
This comes after the Commission verified all the signatures Bobi Wine, who is also the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, submitted for people backing him to contest for presidency.
Bobi Wine made the revelation on Wednesday afternoon after he wrote on social media thus; “This morning, the Electoral Commission notified us that our signatures for nomination have been verified. Once again, I thank all Ugandans who continue to be part of this journey. Together, we shall build a #NewUganda! #3rdNovember2020.”
The singer turned politician now waits until the designated date for nominations to be fully endorsed as one of the presidential candidates in next year’s election.
Details on this developing story follow shortly.
