Grief has engulfed the people Gulu District following the sudden death of prominent agriculturalist and businesswoman Harriet Aber, who was found lying dead in her house on Wednesday morning.
Aber was a close business associate of agriculture investor Gen. Salim Saleh, who heads the Operation Wealth Creation project.
It is said that her lifeless body was found dead in her house in Gulu town by her children, who quickly alerted relatives and neighbours about her demise.
The Gulu-born business woman and lawyer who was known for working closely with Gen. Salim Saleh to promote Operation Wealth Creation program in northern Uganda, in 2017 appeared before the Justice Catherine Bamugemerire Commission to answer allegations that she had used the army to violently evict thousands of people in Alero Sub-county in Nwoya District, to pave way for a sugarcane plantation.
She denied the allegations and instead accused the residents of being ungrateful squatters who had abused her generosity and turned against her after they were allowed to settle on the land moreover after compensation.
However, the cause of her death is not yet known since the police hadn’t issued a preliminary report about her demise by the time of filing this story.
