Breaking: Two Dead In An Alleged Bomb Blast In Swift Bus Along Kampala-Masaka High Way

One person died on the spot and another died on the way to the hospital also a couple of others were left injured following a suspected bomb blast in a bus along the Kampala- Masaka highway.

The incident on Monday evening happened along the busy highway when an explosion went off in a Swift bus.

It is said that the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Commander Muwanga Kityo was among the occupants of the bus.

Details for the incident are still scanty but the police has since promised to issue an official statement.

The statement from the Official social media page of Uganda Police says “A team of bomb experts has been dispatched to Lungala, along the Kampala-Masaka highway, after a deadly explosion occurred on a bus belonging to Swift Safaris Bus company under registration number UAU 989T, at around 5pm . The bus was traveling from Kampala to Bushenyi.

It added “So far two people have been confirmed dead and several other victims including injured persons being evacuated from the scene. The explosion comes three days after the bomb attack in Komamboga. The scene has been cordoned off pending a thorough assessment and investigation by the bomb experts. We shall periodically give updates surrounding the incident.”

The development come only two days after a bomb attack targeting an eating point in Komamboga, a Kampala suburb killed one person and three others wee left injured.

Security has since described it as a domestic terror attack.
