The Police in western Uganda have arrested fousr suspects in connection to the brutal murder of a two-year-old baby girl, who was early this week hacked to death using a hoe.
According to ASP Martial Tumusiime, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Greater Bushenyi, the Police Spokesperson, the Territorial Police at Greater Bushenyi and Sheema district are actively investigating the gruesome murder of the girl identified as Christabella Kemigisha, aged two and a half years, who was killed and her body dumped in front of their neighbour’s home.
Tumusiime said that the deceased was residing with her mother identified as Nuwarimpa Stella, a resident of Mutanoga cell, Kigarama parish, Kigarama sub-county in Sheema district.
“On 18/7/2022 at about 16:00hrs, the deceased disappeared from the home of her grandfather, John Kakuru, where she was at the time of disappearance,” Tumusiime said in a statement.
He added that; “Today (Tuesday) at around 06:20hrs, the deceased body was found dumped at the home of their neighbour identified only as Constance.”
He revealed that a team of homicide detectives including the Scene Of Crime Officer (SOCO) and canine visited the scene.
He noted that with the help of the Police sniffer dog, exhibits including a hoe, a log and clothes of the deceased were recovered in the house of Byamukama Justus, stained with blood.
Byamukama has since been arrested, while the body of the deceased was conveyed to Kabwohe health center IV for postmortem examination.
“We strongly condemn such brutal and cold-blooded acts of murder. There is no justification whatsoever for such killing. So far, 4 accomplices have been arrested and detained in custody,” Tumusiime noted.
