The management of Galaxy FM have outed the burial programme for Pius Kamugisha aka Pio, the company Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who perished on Saturday night in an accident that happened along the Entebbe-Kampala Expressway.
According to sources at Galaxy FM, a requiem mass for the deceased’s soul was held at his home in Ssenge, Wakiso on Sunday and today, Monday, the body will arrive at his home in Ssenge, Wakiso, where mass will be held at 5:00Pm after which vigil will start.
On Tuesday, a church service will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Ssenge, Wakiso at 10:00Am, after which the mourners will set off with the body to the deceased’s ancestral home in Ibanda District.
On Wednesday October 26th, 2022, a Church Service will be held at Kigarama in Bukuto, Ibanda District to send off the deceased’s soul starting 10:00AM after which the burial ceremony will kick off starting 12:00Pm.
According to the police, Kamugisha, who was a renowned city businessman, died in a nasty accident that occurred after his vehicle, a Mercedes Benz rolled several times after it had rammed into another vehicle, a double-cabin pickup truck belonging to government.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Traffic And Road Safety, Uganda Police, issued the following statement following the horrible incident;
“The territorial traffic police at Kajjansi have registered a fatal accident at Nakigala along the Entebbe Kampala Express highway. The accident happened on the 22.10.2022 at around 2200/C.
The accident involved motor vehicle registration number UG 0382D (Toyota Hilux) that was being driven by LT Col Byaruhabga Ephraim I.O 1st Div Kakiri and motor vehicle registration number UBK 320P Benz black driven by Kamugisha Pius, whom we have established to be the C.E. O of Galaxy FM and a resident of Senge, Wakiso who died on the way to hospital.
It’s alleged that both drivers of both motor vehicles UBK 320P Benz and UG 0382D were from Entebbe side heading to Busega side via Entebbe-Kampala Expressway and towards Nakigalala at Kilometer 10, the driver of UBK 320P who was speeding decided to overtake MV UG 0382D which was driving in the outer lane at a short distance, in the process, he knocked MV UG 0382D on rear light on the driver’s side, continued by scratching the driver’s door and then hit off the side mirror.
Kamugisha, the deceased lost control and knocked the middle concrete barrier, the vehicle crossed back to the outer lane, rolled to the trench then overturned several times up to the resting position approximately 600m from the point of impact.
The driver sustained serious head injuries and arm fracture by observation. He died on the way as he was being rushed to Mulago hospital.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving and drink driving (as some Bottles of Alcohol were recovered from the vehicle of the deceased)
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago mortuary. More inquiries at hand.”
