Like the chameleon he is, singer turned musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has again turned colours from red to green, by abandoning Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) and returning to the Democratic Party.
It should be noted that Chameleone, who was early this year endorsed as a DP mobiliser by Norbert Mao, had abandoned his party and crossed over to Bobi Wine’s NUP, with intent to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat on the NUP ticket.
Along the way however, he failed to reach an understanding with Bobi Wine and other NUP senior members, who failed to trust him, because he keeps changing colours like a chameleon.
Now the latest we have is that Chameleone, after being dumped by Bobi Wine, has since returned to his original party (DP), under which he plans to contest against NUP’s Latif Ssebagala (MP Kawempe North) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC’s) Hajji Elias Lukwago, the incumbent Kampala Lord Mayor.

However, it is not yet clear whether DP president general Mao will endorse Chameleone’s candidature as party flagbearer for the Lord Mayoral position, because the two have not been on talking terms ever since he crossed over to NUP.
All that notwithstanding, it should be noted that DP recently unveiled former National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobiliser Beatrice Kayanja, a renowned city businesswoman, to contest for the Lord Mayoral seat as party flagbearer.

This inadvertently means that even if Chameleone tries to contest on DP ticket, he is very likely to clash with Kayanja and many of her supporters from DP.
