Chameleone Denies Switching From Secular To Gospel Music

Popular musician Joseph Mayanja aka Dr. Jose Chameleone has refuted rumours going around that he has since abandoned secular music and resorted to gospel music to make a kill.

Rumours  that Chameleone had decided to switch to gospel music started swirling around  after  word leaked that he is soon releasing a new album titled ‘I Am Joseph’, with a  gospel cover song ‘King Of Kings’.

Although Chameleone has not yet the album,  many of his fans have been wondering and courting disappointment, thinking that their ‘Music Doctor’ had abandoned the dancehall genre for which he  became much loved by Ugandan music lovers.

However,  the singer has since come out to refute the said rumours by assuring his fans that he has not resorted to singing gospel music like some people are alleging.

“With my last post, A lot of some friends rushed to judge what they don’t know,” Chameleone wrote on Instagram in a bid to reassure his fans.

He added that; “I was sure it would call for all that. Off my album is this “Kings of Kings” glorifying God above man!! – Next time you need not to rush”.

It should be noted that Chameleone last years halted his music career such that he could try a hand at politics and contested for the Kampala Lord Mayoral seat, although he lost to then incumbent Hajj Elias Lukwago.

However, Uganda has seen several musicians turn from secular to gospel music among them being Grace Nakimera, Desire Luzinda, Qute Kaye, to mention but a few.
