COVID-19 Deaths Rise To 82, 141 New Cases Registered

The Ministry of Health has revealed that the number of Coronavirus deaths in Uganda has reached 82 as of Monday October 5th, 2020, out of 8,965 total cumulative cases of infection.

This comes after the Ministry registered one COVID-19 death from Kumi District over the weekend, and 157 new cases of infection and 5,078 total Recoveries.
Updates from the Ministry of Health about new COVID-19 deaths

The breakdown of the new cases according to the Ministry of Health statistics is as follows:

Contacts and alerts (141): Amuru (25), Kampala (22), Abim (12), Jinja (13), Kaabong (14), Kotido (9), Hoima (7), Kumi (8), Napak (7), Amuria (3), Nakapiripirit (5), Serere (3), Katakwi (4), Rakai (2), Buvuma (1), Iganga (1), Kaliro (1), Kikuube (1), Masindi (1), Nabilatuk (1), Kalaki (1).

The new cases of infection also include; Returnees (16) from Saudi Arabia (13) and Jordan (3)

It should be noted that ever since Uganda moved out of lockdown, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has skyrocketed, alongside deaths, but the good news is that more people are recovering too.

The rise in COVID-19 cases is attributed to the fact that Ugandans stopped being vigilant and adhering to the COVID-19 prevention measures like regularly washing their hands, sanitising, wearing masks in public, observing social distance, among other Standard Operating Procedures.
