Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho, who plays professional football for Egyptian side Misr El Makkasa has been dismissed from the team’s training camp for failure to adhere to the national team code of conduct FUFA Circular dated March 4, 2021.
According to a statement released by FUFA, Aucho, who arrived in the country on Friday refused to board the official means of transport organised to pick him from Entebbe International Airport to the team camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi and has not even reported to camp since his arrival in the country.
“The player’s club Misr El Makkasa and Egypt Football Association A have duly been informed about the decision and a return air ticket has been issued to him for his travel back to Egypt,” FUFA said in a statement.
Uganda Cranes is preparing for two crucial AFCON Qualifiers against Burkina Faso on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, and Malawi on Monday, March 29, 2021. The Cranes need to be at their best and get maximum points from these two fixtures if they want to qualify for the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Aucho remains one of the most capped players in the national team set up with 53 caps and he joins striker Uche Mubiru who pulled out of the team. Official training for the squad starts today, Saturday, March 20, 2021.
