The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has directed Parliament to investigate allegations that Dr Monica Musenero misappropriated funds amounting to over Shs31Bn that was meant to be used for development of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The motion was raised Monday by Ntungamo Municipality Member of Parliament Yonah Musinguzi, who told Parliament that several complaints have been raised about members of the National COVID-19 Task Force misappropriating money that was raised by President Yoweri Museveni from individuals and organisations to help government combat the pandemic.
“On the allegations of misappropriation of funds for vaccine development raised by the Hon Yona Musinguzi, I will constitute a select committee to look into the matter and report to the house. I ask the minister in charge of security to address hon Yona’s security concerns,” Hon. Anita tweeted Monday.
We have established that during Tuesday’s Parliamentary Sitting Among named the members of the Select Committee to investigate the allegations against Dr. Musenero on the use of Shs31 billion that was meant for the COVID19 vaccine development.
Among said the committee will be chaired by Hon. Xavier Kyooma, with members who shall include; Paul Omara, Aisha Kabanda, Solomon Silwany and Tony Awany.
She noted that the Select Committee is expected to report back to Parliament within two weeks with a comprehensive report about the allegations against Dr. Musenero.
However, our efforts to reach Dr. Musenero through her office lines for a comment about this matter were futile by press time.
