The road-map to the 2021 general election has become dramatic after Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has decided to front Beatrice Kayanja, a renowned enthusiast of President Yoweri Museveni, to contest against Hajji Elias Lukwago and singer cum politician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose  Chameleone.

Lukwago, the incumbent, is contesting on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket, while Chameleone, who is purportedly a DP member, is contesting on Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket.

So in order to neutralise their support in Kampala, Mao and his DP advisers have since resolved to front Kayanja, a renowned city businesswoman, to contest for the position of Lord Mayor.

However, since she is an ardent Museveni supporter, Mao’s move has pitted him against many staunch DP members and supporters, who now regard him as a National Resistance Movement  (NRM) puppet in the opposition.

Who Is Kayanja

Beatrice Kayanja, a businesswoman, entrepreneur and IT engineer is the second woman to declare her intention for to contest for the Kampala Capital City Lord Mayoral position in the coming general election.

Kayanja contends that her intentions for serving people of Kampala include promoting and improving the healthcare especially for all under the age of five years.

She says the office of Lord Mayor is the most important and most powerful political office in changing lives of people in Kampala, especially in economic sector but that it has failed together with its current leadership.
