Ugandan UK based events promoter Mosh Alim, has unleashed a new online supermarket known as London Duuka, through which clients can buy all the groceries they want.
According to Mosh, London Duuka is an online shopping portal that allows Ugandans and all people in the United Kingdom to buy fresh food, vegetables, cereals, natural fruit juice and all types of groceries.
However, London Duuka also caters for Ugandans and other citizens who want to send groceries and other items for their relatives in London and other parts of UK, to make it easier for them to enjoy local organic foods from Uganda.
Speaking to Exposed Uganda about this new innovation, Mosh said that it is mainly aimed at providing clients with an opportunity to buy fresh food while in the comfort of their homes, without having to go to crowded places, which helps them avoid the risk of COVID-19 infections.
“Due to the inconveniences brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, very many people find it difficult to go to supermarkets or grocery stores to buy fresh food and that is why we brought London Duuka, to help them,” Mosh said.
He added that; “London Duuka is first mobile shop where people get their desired fresh and dry food in the comfort of their home. It is so convenient to use because there are many payment options, whereby you can pay online or pay on delivery by cash or by card.”
Isaac Tugume, one of the sales executives at London Duuka, revealed that; “At London Duuka, we receive fresh vegetables and fruits every week directly from the rich soils of Uganda and deliver them to you in the comfort of your home. Just like health experts say; an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and eating healthy makes even more sense now amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to eat healthy because COVID-19 disrupted agricultural production. That’s why we brought London Duuka, to ensure food security at people’s homes.”
He added that; “All you have to do is simply download our app to your smartphone; place your order online and everything will be delivered to your doorstep.”
He noted that clients can also log onto the London Duuka website www.londonduuka.com which is very easy to navigate when you want to place their order.
A first time user will be required to sign up and create an account where they will enter details like a preferred billing option, the shipping address, email and phone number among others.
You can shop by browsing through items and adding them to your shopping cart. You can also update your cart by removing products you don’t want to take.
After verifying your products, click “Place Order” to notify London Duuka about your order.
Although the company is currently operating in areas of Northern and Southern London, the added advantage is that London Duuka has a delivery van and anyone can get a chance to bump into it in their location or area of residence and buy whatever they want without having to necessarily place an order.
Meanwhile, there is also an opportunity that the van can move to different parts of London on given days to serve clients in specific areas so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t stop it and buy what you want.
The brainchild of the project intimated that the London Duuka van will have a schedule to move to each region on given days, whereby on some days it will be in East, South, North or West London, to serve clients and o make deliveries to those who would have placed their orders online.
It should be noted that London Duuka uses multiple payment methods including Mobile Money, Paypal, MasterCard, Visa, or Cash on Delivery.
