Former Kawempe South Member of Parliament Mubarak Munyagwa aka Mugaati gwa Bata is missing and his whereabouts remain unknow after he was abducted my plain clothed armed men on Sunday evening.
Sources reveal that Munyagwa, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), was abducted by a gang of armed men who intercepted him on his way to NBS TV, where he was set to be hosted on a talk-show.
Following his abduction, eyewitnesses say Munyagwa was whisked away by his abductors in a numberless drone van that drove him to a yet to be identified detention centre.
It is not yet clear what charges Munyagwa faces because the police have not yet issued a statement about his arrest or where he is being detained.
By the time of filing this article officials from the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi had not yet issued a statement about Munyagwa’s arrest too.
Munyagwa is also a former mayor for Kawempe south and during his tenure in Parliament he was the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee. It should however be noted that Munyagwa has been in the news of recent attacking the leadership of the National Unity Platform (NUP), which is led by former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, faulting them for diverting from the ‘struggle’ and resorting to chopping money when their supporters are being abducted and tortured.
