Leicester City continue to have a wonderful 2020/21 season as it slowly comes to an end. Apart from being in the touching space of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League, The Foxes have beaten Chelsea 1 – 0 this evening of Saturday, May 15, 2021, to win the FA Cup for the first time in their history.
There were several chances for both tems in the first half but neither side had the nerve to put the ball at the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, Leicester were better and their efforts bore fruits in the 63rd minute when Youri Tielemans sent a wonderful strike in the top corner of the goal giving Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga absolutely no chance.
Chelsea came close to getting the equaliser in the final minutes of the second half but had their goal disallowed by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside. Not even the five added minutes could help them unlock the strong Leicester defence. The defeat means Chelsea have lost two back to back FA Cup finals.
Leicester City, who were playing in the Championship over seven seasons go have increasingly become bigger and better with every season that passes, and now have two big trophies in their cabinet in a space of five years. Quite remarkable.
