Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament Anita Among and her ‘hubbby’ Moses Magogo, who is the Budiope East legislator want to turn the highest positions in parliament into a family affair of sorts.
This comes after word circulated that whereas Among seeks to replace her fallen boss former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, Magogo wants to replace her as Deputy Speaker, thereby having completing the family affair picture .
As you read this, Among and Magogo, who is also the president Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), have since submitted papers expressing interest to vie for the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively ahead of the election slated for this Friday March 25th, 2022, at Kololo Independence Grounds.
We have established that Among and Magogo’s camps are already engaged in a flurry of activities that include politicking and lobbying for support to ensure that their candidates win.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) chaired by President Yoweri Museveni, will on Wednesday discuss the names of candidates and make endorsements.
Meanwhile, there are other NRM candidates who have expressed interest to contest for the position of Speaker, among them former Speaker Alitwala Kadaga and State Minister for Defence Jacob Oboth Oboth.
However, by the time we went to press the opposition side was yet to pronounce their candidate for both the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
