Samuel Eto’o Fils, one of the finest African footballers to play the beautiful game is hospitalised after he got involved in a nasty accident on Sunday, November 8, 2020 when a bus rammed into his car in his native country Cameroon.
This happened as he was driving home from a wedding last evening, only for the bus to ram into his Mercedes Benz ML class. It is reported that Eto’o suffered a head injury and will undergo further medical examinations.
“The crashed car Samuel Eto’o was in. I can confirm that he is fine. We spoke again. Doctors taking care of additional examinations,” Cameroonian journalist Martin Camus tweeted.
Eto’o hang up his boots on September 7, 20219 putting an end to his glittering career during which he scored 130 goals for Spanish giants Barcelona and while playing with the club he won three La Liga trophies and two UEFA Champions League titles in 2006 and 2009. Eto’o scored one of the two goals in the 2006 final.
Eto’o won his third Champions League trophy in 2010 with Inter Milan, the Italian club winning the treble under the management of Jose Mourinho. The prolific striker had stints with other clubs like Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, and Antalyaspor in Turkey.
His goal-scoring ability was not only exhibited on the club level, but Eto’o excelled on the international level with Cameroon “the Indomitable Lions” as well.
He played in six AFCON tournaments and four World Cups, scoring 58 goals in 118 appearances.
Eto’o won Gold at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and the Africa Cup of Nations twice in 2000 and 2002.
