Mzee John Karuhire, commonly known as Kamashara, who was a respected opinion leader in the region, was laid to rest on Thursday in Kabale District.
Kamashara died at Mulago National Referral Hospital after years of battling heart and bladder complications.
It should be remembered that in 2017 Kamashara told Daily Monitor that him and the late president of Rwanda Juveneral Habyarimana were cousins and even president Yoweri Museveni knew about him.
Kamashara was described as a family-oriented and friendly man who strived to educate his children.
In his message read by Catherine Ndamira, the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda described John Bakaruhire Kamashara, as a selfless and developmental pillar of Kabale District.
He was laid to rest in Nyakambu, Kirijime and is survived by 9 orphans.
