There is a bitter clash raging on between First Son Lt.Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Dr. Kizza Besigye’s wife Winnie Byanyima, over the war in the Tigray region of Ethiopia that is wants to break away.
Gen. Muhoozi and Byanyima’s clash started after he posted on Twitter thus;”I urge my great and brave brothers in the Tigrayan Defence Forces to listen to the words of General Yoweri Museveni! I am as angry as you and I support your cause. Those who raped our Tigrayan sisters and killed our brothers must be punished! “
However, Byanyima, who is one of Uganda’s top diplomatic figures, retorted by telling Muhoozi to delete the tweet, arguing that it might jeopardise the security of Ugandans in Ethiopia.
Byanyima tweeted; “Please delete this tweet. It is risking the lives of Ugandans working and living in Ethiopia.”
However, Muhoozi refused to delete the tweet and instead added another stating thus;”Madame Winnie. Good to hear fm you. It’s been a long time. I last saw you in SH in 1987. It is the responsibility of the Ethiopian gov’t to protect all citizens & visitors in Addis & the rest of the country. If the TDF is doing it in areas they control, why shouldn’t the gov’t?”
Byanyima, who is the Executive Director UNAIDS, is yet to reply to Muhoozi’s statement but what is clear is that the two do not agree about affairs surrounding the Tigray.
It should be noted that the Tigrayan forces are fighting to break away from Ethiopia, accusing forces of the Ethiopian government of plundering their land, raping their women and children plus committing mass murders and other atrocities.
However, hundreds of Ethiopians mainly supporters of Prime Minister Abiy Muhammed took to the streets on Sunday to protest against what they called ‘Western media Lying about Ethiopia and fueling the Tigray war.”
A statement from the management of the band about his demise released Sunday reads thus;
“With profound sorrow, we are deeply saddened to report the death of Mr Lenny Kabunga. He died this(yesterday )morning after a fall in the bathtub.”
Married to CMP Rose (RC Ntinda Metro,) Kabunga co-authored a beautiful piece in the LT about “how to prepare for retirement.
He was one of the greatest storytellers Uganda had and was close to legendary musician Sammy Kasule, Frank Mbalire and JC Ssentamu.
Kasule, together with Frank Mbalire and JC Ssentamu who formed Ziwuuna Band in 2015, were all veteran Ugandan musicians with a career in entertainment dating as far back as the 1960s and were later joined by Kabunga.
The band, specializing in Rumba, Soukous, Salsa, and Jazz music, has been performing for a growing audience of senior citizens in Kampala under the umbrella Ziwuuna Seniors Club Ltd at various venues, including Maama Ashanti in Nakasero, Zone 7 Bar and Restaurant in Bugolobi, Las Vegas Garden Hotel in Bunga, and Fusion Auto Spa in Gaba.
Kasule passed away in April this year at a hospital in Amsterdam while on his way to Sweden where he was returning for further medical care.
