Ever since Muhammad Ssegirinya aka Mr Updates won the Kawempe North parliamentary seat in the January 14 election, he has been increasingly generous.
Ssegirinya started by organising with fellow National Unity Platform (NUP) elected legislators and supporters to take foodstuffs to their party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine during his 10 days of house arrest.
After that, Ssegirinya has been the ringleader of a group of NUP supporters and well-wishers that have collected foodstuffs and other essential items and distribute them amongst NUP supporters that are still in prison following their arrest in Kalangala towards the end of last year when they had escorted Bobi Wine to campaign on the islands.
Today, the outspoken and motor-mouthed MP-in-waiting has shown his generosity once again, this time by offering bursaries to two children until they complete their primary school education.
Ssegirinya has shared the act of generosity on popular social media site Twitter, saying that the children, who vend fruits on the streets, found him in his office in Kyebando, Kawempe division.
“These children have found me in my office in Kyabando while vending their fruits to raise school fees. I have decided to offer them bursaries up to P7,” Ssegirinya tweeted.
Now that Ssegirinya “fell into things,” it looks like he is planning to share the blessings with the less privileged and elevate their standards of living, something that surely should be emulated by leaders. Selflessness is a virtue, and shared blessings are always multiplied.
