Legendary Ugandan rapper Earnest Nsimbi Zamba aka GNL Zamba has expressed his interest to contest for the Uganda Musicians’ Association (UMA) presidency, shortly after Wycliffe Tugume aka Ykee Benda quit the same position.
It should be noted that the UMA currently trails with a vacant presidential position after singer Ykee Benda confirmed that he will be resigning so sooner than the officially stipulated period according to the association’s constitution.
Appearing on local radio station 90.4 Dembe FM’s ‘Talk and Talk’ show over the weekend, GNL Zamba revealed his serious interests in serving at the helm of UMA.
GNL assured his fans and supporters that he has more than what it takes to compete for the seat.
The Baboon Forest Entertainment Chief Executive Officer (CEO) went ahead to unleash some of the compositions in his manifesto that would see him have an upper hand over his contenders.
His emphasis is on limiting musicians from seeking government handouts by financially empowering them through the existent underutilized resources in the music industry.
“There are so many unutilized resources in the music industry and that’s where I want to start working. It is to build a strong self-sustainable entrepreneurship group of creatives. We artistes may share needs and goals but I want us to maintain our dignity too,” GNL Zamba said.
GNL Zamba returned to Uganda permanently in 2020 after thriving in the United States of America for over 10 years, where he even hooked and married to a Mzungu babe.
