The police in Nansana, Gganda in Wakiso District, have arrested a man suspected to have kidnapped, defiled and murdered a seven-year-old girl.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the body of the victim was found abandoned in a room which the suspected killer was renting.
According to the police, the young girl identified as Janish Kanyike went missing from her grandparents’ home on Friday last week and all efforts to trace her were futile until her body was recovered three days later.
The area defence secretary identified as Christopher Muyimbwa said that “After looking for the girl for several days in vain, residents went to the room where the suspect was renting with another man only identified as Otim. On breaking the door and entering, they landed on the girl’s body, wrapped in a piece of cloth. At the time of recovering the body, the suspect had already fled.”
He added that “The young girl had been tied with a rope that bound her legs, hands and the neck.”
Muyimbwa revealed that the suspects include a one Otim and Jacob Ssessanga who were renting the room at the victim’s home, where the body was recovered.
Owoyesigire said that “After being alerted by the residents we went to the scene and found the body in bad shape. The infant was sexually abused by her captors before they murdered her.”
He added that one of the suspects identified as Ssesanga Jacob alias City Tycoon had been arrested and detained at Nansana Police Station, from where he will be taken to court to charges of murder and aggravated defilement when investigations are completed.
This, however, comes at a time when the police in Kasangati are hunting for a 5-year-old girl identified as Kisha Abisagi Nabacwa, who went missing from her parents’ home in Kasangati, also in Wakiso District.
The girl has been missing for the past four days and all efforts by parents to establish their whereabouts have so far proved futile.
