The police in Metropolitan Kampala have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 9-year-old boy whose body was recovered in a septic tank in Wamala Zone, Wakiso District, after he had gone missing for several weeks.
According to a statement released by ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the body of the deceased identified Bukenya Imran, 9 years old, was found decomposing in a septic tank.
“The territorial Police at Nansana has arrested two suspects in connection to the murder of Bukenya Imran 9yrs, who disappeared on 09/07/2022 and the case was reported at the Wamala police post,” Owoyesigire said in a statement.
He added that; “The Police have been tracing for the child until yesterday 2nd 08 2022 when Police at Wamala received information that an unidentified body was seen floating in the septic tank at the home of Semaganyi Eria.”
He revealed that the Police responded with Fire Prevention and rescue services who retrieved the body, which was in a decomposing state and a 20-litre jerrican with suspected Kerosene which had been poured into the septic tank to disguise the smell of the decomposing body.”
The police mouthpiece said that all items recovered have since been exhibited.
“The body of the deceased child was later identified by the mother who told officers that the child disappeared while she had gone to Mulago hospital to give birth to the deceased’s sister on 9/07/2022,” Owoyesigire noted, adding;
“The body was later conveyed to the city mortuary in Mulago for Postmortem.”
He identified the two suspects as Ssemaganyi Eria and Ssalongo Bweseri, who he said are detained at Nansana main police station to help the police with investigations into the matter.
