‘I Had To Do Everything Possible  To Rescue Kayihura’-Bizimana

Some Bafumbira might have not welcomed the act of the Kisoro District LC 5 Chairman Abel Bizimana od kneeling before president Yoweri Museveni to plead on behalf of former police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura but Bizimana is unapologetic about his actions.

Bizimana, who  unlike most of Kayihura’s  so-called friends,  has publicly defended the former Inspector General of Police ever since he was fired in 2018.

To express his ambition to have Kayihura pardoned, Bizimana on Tuesday took to social media to thank people who joined him to make what he described as a desperate action to free the former police chief come true.

However, in response to those who were not happy with his act of kneeling before a fellow man (President Museveni), yet he is also suspected to have sympathy for the opposition, Bizimana defended himself in a tweet by writing thus;

“I applied the skills to make a socio-political diagnosis that Kayihura needed our rescue. Thank you  his excellency YK Museveni for reading the statement and responding instantly.”

Bizimana a few days ago revealed that some people have been intimidating him in a bid to stop him from bringing up Kayihura’s issue during National Resistance Movement (NRM)  campaigns, but he insisted on bringing it up before president Museveni because he knows the implication the matter has on his support in Kisoro District.

Kayihura, a self-confessed ruling NRM party cadre, was the longest serving IGP; having been appointed in 2005. Museveni reappointed him to the position in May 2017 for at another three years.

However, during his reign, the country witnessed an unprecedented spate of criminality with murders, rape, kidnaps, armed robberies that ravaged areas of  Wakiso, Masaka, Gulu, Mukono and other parts.
