The Katikiro of Buganda Kingdom Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga has finally come out to speak about the ongoing allegations that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is hospitalized.
Katikiro Mayiga was prompted to speak about the matter following wide spread allegations that the Kabaka is battling kidney complications and that he had been rushed to Nairobi Hospital in Kenya for specialised medication.
However, Mayiga refuted the allegations during a press conference held at Bulange Mengo on Monday, where he said that; “Since Friday, rumours have been going around that the Kabaka is sick and bedridden. The rumours have sparked of fear and anxiety and we have received so many questions.

However, I am here to inform people in Buganda and Uganda at large that the Kabaka is not sick and not hospitalized. He is reigning on his throne with no problem at all.”
He added that “During my State of the Kingdom Address recently, I warned all people about fake news on social media. Many of these people are looking for followers or viewers on their different platforms, such that they can be paid by internet operators. The bigger the followers one has on its platforms, the more they are likely to be paid by the operators of these social media companies.”
Mayiga also said that social media is full of people who don’t want to see progress in Buganda. He claimed that such people aim at discouraging projects brought about by Buganda kingdom. He described such people as alcoholics and drug addicts whose aim is to sabotage Buganda Kingdom.
