Popular musician Suleiman Semanda famously known as King Saha has threatened to boycott the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) after accusing the Association’s Electoral Committee of involving in election malpractice.
King Saha, who is contesting for the UMA presidency together with Cindy Sanyu and Mutebi Ramathan aka Lord Bitemu, expressed his resolution publicly when he said Monday afternoon on social media that; “Voting has stopped due to signs of malpractice. NITA ne UMA Committee, mweteleze tuugende maaso. KING SAHA FOR UNITY AND TRANSPARENCY.”
However, shortly after King Saha’s message went viral, the management of UMA was quick to counter him by stating whatever is saying is false and has no authority to speak on behalf of UMA.
“This is false information! The Election has been ongoing since it commenced! Any communication in regards to this election is only made by the Electoral Committee,” UMA tweeted to counter King Saha.
It should be noted that the election for the next UMA president is digital whereby voters have to dial *120# to cast their votes and the process is being overseen by the National Information Technology Authority (NITA).
Although there are three candidate in the race, the stiffest competition is between King Saha and Cindy Sanyu.
Meanwhile, preliminary information coming in indicates that Cindy Sanyu has won the election, although we shall bring you official results in our subsequent reports.
