Losing Form: Arsenal Star Aubameyang ‘Not Worried’ As Goals Dry Up

Soccer star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who plays for Arsenal, insists he is not worried about his lack of goals this season, as Mikel Arteta’s team prepare to travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Gunners beat Irish side Dundalk 3-0 in the Europa League last night, but Aubameyang and the team have struggled to find the net in the Premier League.

Arteta’s side have scored just eight times in their first six games and only West Brom, Wolves and the bottom three have a worse record in front of goal.

Aubameyang has gone five league matches without a goal for the first time since November 2014, but the 31-year-old is not concerned.

“We are not finding scoring goals easy at the moment,” he said. “This happens in teams — I haven’t scored for a few games in the league, either,” he said.

“But we’re an experienced team, with experienced attacking players and we know we will turn this around. I’m not worried about that,” he added.

Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were rested for last night’s win over Dundalk as a fringe Arsenal side cruised to a straightforward victory.

Eddie Nketiah opened the scoring in the 42nd minute before goals either side of half-time from Joe Willock and Nicolas Pepe wrapped up victory. On a night when Jose Mourinho said his Tottenham players made his future team selections easy by performing badly, Arsenal’s youngsters gave Arteta plenty to ponder.

Willock and Reiss Nelson seized an opportunity with both hands, with Willock particularly impressive.

Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery said Willock could one day fill the void left by Aaron Ramsey and, while there is still some way to go, the 21-year-old is a good alternative option for Arteta.

He offers a genuine goal threat, with the stamina to get up and down the pitch complemented by his knack of timing his runs late into the box.

His goal was a good example of that and, if Arteta wants to take the pressure off his forwards, then Willock has put himself in contention for more regular action.

Nelson, 20, also shone, causing havoc out wide and reminding people why there was a time when there was debate over whether he was a bigger talent than Jadon Sancho.
