The Commander of Land Forces Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has finally spoken out about the arrest of Kakwenza Rukira, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) activist who was arrested on Tuesday evening.
Kankwenza, a renowned critic of President Yoweri Museveni, Muhoozi and the entire First Family, broke the news on twitter when he wrote that;
“Currently under house arrest. Gunmen are breaking into my house by force.”
Since his arrest however, Kakwenza’s whereabouts are still unknown and it was not yet unknown who ordered his arrest until Muhoozi came out today and revealed that this is a lesson to whoever thinks they can abuse him on social media and get away with it.
“I want the arrest of @Kakwenza Rukira to be a lesson to all those who think they can abuse me on social media and walk away Scot free. Whereas we have freedom of speech in Uganda, there should be a limit.”
It should be noted that Kakwenza, who is one of Uganda’s renowned writers, has over the years been very critical of Muhoozi and his father President Museveni.
He was some time back arrested and charged with among other cases subversion after released a book titled ‘The Greedy Barbarian’, in which he criticises the First Family and the ruling regime as a whole.
