Mathias Muwanga Leaves Express Fc After 3 Years At The Club

Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga who was recently awarded as the Best Goalkeeper of the Season in the scientific ceremony of awarding the Trophy to Express Fc has decided to leave Uganda Premier Champions, Express FC after the two parties failed to agree on contract renewal.

The Club confirmed on Monday that negotiations to have the player renew his contract failed and thus the latter opting to move on.

“Express FC inform that, as per Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga’s wishes and at his request, the club and the player have mutually parted ways after contract renewal negotiations fell through.” The Club confirmed in a statement.

The shot-stopper had a stellar performance last season, keeping 13 clean sheets in the League and eventually named the best goalkeeper of the season.

Muwanga spent three seasons with Express having joined the club in the 2018/2019 season.

He managed 54 club appearances and 24 clean sheets across all competitions

We await to see where his next journey will be, whether around among the Super League clubs or move to other clubs in Africa.

Express FC are still negotiations with several players to renew their contracts as the team prepares to play in the CAF Champions League.

Murushid Juuko is one of those whose contract has run out and the club is trying to have him sign a new contract.

It is believed the Red Eagles have already signed Joel Mutakubwa from relegated Kyetume FC.
