Business and traffic came to standstill on Saturday morning in Kampala after fire gutted a building, destroying merchandise worth hundreds of millions of shillings.
The building that caught fire is located along Nakivubo road near Kisekka market. Traffic along the road was blocked for hours by military and police as the fire brigade tried to put out the fire this morning.

It is not yet clear what caused the inferno but by press time the Police Fire Brigade had kicked off investigations into the matter establish what could have caused it.

It should however be noted that several fires in the recent past gutted facilities in and around Kampala, including schools, markets and business premises, although reports from investigations done by police have never been made available to the public.
